The T6 Heat Treatment of Semi-Solid Metal Processed Alloy A356

A solution treatment of 1 hour at 540 o C provided the best results for rheocast alloy A356-T6. Natural aging has a significant influence on the subsequent artificial aging response of the alloy. Arrhenius-type equations were derived to predict the time-to-peak hardness as a function of artificial aging temperature.
